Team Building Not Just For Big Companies

Companies have been using team building days to rally their staff and help build better bonds and communication channels for a long time now. The concept was originally used by larger blue-chip organizations that had many departments which maybe did not interact very well. This then filtered down into the more modestly sized and independent businesses who wanted didn’t want to miss a trick. Now, with the recent surge in number of businesses that are based at home or entirely over the net, there is whole new group of people seeking to better their teams. According to leading team building businesses, these companies too are increasingly seeing the benefits of running bonding and communication sessions themselves.

The findings were released by a group of team building companies in London, England. They have found that even though a lot of home based and internet based businesses comprise of smaller teams, they often do not communicate that effectively. In these businesses there is often a reluctance to communicate face to face, with employees opting for email or phone calls most of the time. Additionally, there are a great many of these companies that run from a number of locations and there are team members that never actually get to meet face to face.Further more, the activity levels of people who work in these kinds of jobs is quite poor, resulting in them being classed in a high risk category for picking up heart and lung problems.

The group who released the findings documented a 30% increase in the number of team building days booked last year by home and internet based businesses (the most popular being Waterside in Windsor events) and suggested this is down to an increased focus on work efficiency. It has been reported by bigger businesses that their workforce productivity increased by some 50% as a result of running more team building days and their were less instances of people being off sick. It was only a matter of time before even the smallest Internet and home businesses followed their footsteps and considered using team building days. As well as team building events, many companies are increasing their spend on hospitality events such as Henley Regatta hospitality days in an attempt to improve staff job satisfaction.
